For most, Christmas is a time for happiness, celebration, and connection, but for many young people and children facing homelessness, family breakdown and mental health struggles, it can be a lonely and difficult time.
At Taldumande Youth Services, we recognise how isolating Christmas can be for young people and children who are disconnected from their families or lack the stability of a safe home. Over Christmas, we continue to remain open, committed to ensuring that vulnerable young people and children have somewhere to turn. Whether it’s a warm meal, a comfortable bed, or someone to talk to, our dedicated staff and volunteers are here every day of the year, providing safe accommodation, mental health support, and practical care to ensure that young people and children in our care feel safe and secure.
Through our Christmas initiatives, we go beyond the essentials. Every year, each young person we support receives thoughtful, age-appropriate gifts, as well as food hampers and essential items, to ensure they feel special and valued.
A local community that cares

We are incredibly lucky to have a local community that really cares. Each year, we’re overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of organisations, churches, schools and individuals who step up to help us bring joy to the children and young people we support. Their help makes all the difference in ensuring that no young person feels forgotten during the holiday period.

You don’t only help us provide gifts and food but also a sense of connection and belonging that means so much to the young people we care for.

Christmas at Taldumande is about creating moments of joy and togetherness for young people and children who might otherwise feel alone. Our annual Christmas Party is a highlight, bringing fun, laughter, and a sense of community to those who join us. For many, this gathering offers a chance to forget the fears and stresses of everyday life and celebrate the beginning of the festive season.
Our support doesn’t stop there. On Christmas Day and throughout the holiday period, we go the extra mile to ensure that all young people, children and families feel cared for and included. From meals to fun activities, we create a warm atmosphere where they can relax, have fun, and feel a sense of belonging.
How you can help
Did you know that nearly 23% of Australia’s homeless population are aged 12–24? That’s around 28,200 young people facing the uncertainty and challenges of life without a stable home.
At Taldumande, we strive to change this stark reality by helping more children, young people and families in need. With your support, we can provide not only safe housing, essential support and resources but also hope and a pathway to a brighter future.
This Christmas and going forward, your generosity can make all the difference. By supporting us, you’ll help bring security and connection to young people who need it most. Your support enables us to provide safe housing, case management, practical care, and access to services that help children, young people, and families navigate challenging times.
Together, we can show them they are not alone and that better days lie ahead.
