"Thank You" Morning Tea - A Treat for Supporters

Nearly 50 guests attended Taldumande’s annual supporters ‘Thank You’ Morning Tea, held on Friday 23rd March.  The brilliant autumn morning provided the perfect backdrop for the heartfelt messages of thanks and support from Vice-Patron Jillian Skinner MP, two ex-Taldumande residents and Chairman Michael Morton-Evans. While enjoying the limelight of being appreciated, Taldumande supporters mingled while feasting on the delights donated by My Little Cupcake, Café Bolle and Fourth Village Providore.  Other set-up items were kindly supplied by St Peter’s Anglican Church of Cremorne.  The invitation, creative and printing was generously donated by Elton Ward Creative and Officeworks North Sydney.
Thank you to all our supporters, you have helped us to survive to this our 37th year of helping and caring for young homeless people in our community.

Refuge Bedroom Refurbishment Project

Refuge Bedroom Refurbishment Project - 2 down, 3 to go!

The much needed task of replacing the furniture in the 5 bedrooms at our Youth Refuge is now well underway.  Thanks to funding from the Rotary Club of Mosman and a private donor, the appropriate 'cool' furniture for two bedrooms was purchased from Ikea.  A volunteer team of Mosman Rotarians bravely faced the challenge of assembling most of the items, with a second crew completing the task.

Thank you all for your generous contribution.  These two rooms will go a long way in providing the comfort and safety our struggling youth deserve.

Local Gyms who support a healthy body

Local Gyms who support a healthy body... and heart!

Six local gym and pilate centres supported the Taldumande 2011 Christmas Tree Appeal, during the first 2 weeks of December.  In each gym a small Xmas tree was erected with donation envelopes and decorations attached.  Members were encouraged to donate towards an individual young person’s Christmas present and Christmas activity program via one of the envelopes.  Over $1,000 was raised.  Thank you to all gym owners, staff and members who kindly supported the campaign to make the festive season special for our young people.

Participants include:  Neutral Bay’s Contours, Vision Person Training and Leeon and Shaw Pilates, Mosman Fitness First and Crows Nest’s Curves and Heart and Soul Health Club.

Community Christmas Spirit

Community Christmas spirit alive at Taldumande…thank you!

It gives us great joy to be able to announce that Christmas for the young people at Taldumande, was a festive and exciting one thanks to the generous spirit of our local community.

As a result of our Christmas drive, we received a most generous range of gifts and cash which enabled us to provide a wonderful Christmas lunch, complete with all the trimmings and gifts.   We were also able provide our young people with a holiday season that was full of activity and fun.

Successful AGM for Taldumande

This year's AGM was held  at our new office in Yeo St on Thursday 27th October.  Over 20 guests, staff and board members attended.  Attendees relaxed into the evening with refreshments and a light supper as Chairman, Michael Morton-Evans delivered an informative speech about the case for Early Intervention as the only way to try and prevent youth homelessness in the community.  A brief summary about Taldumande's performance and highlights for the past year were also presented.  Thank you to all those who came and supported the evening.
