Taldumande Youth Services has continued to support and accommodate vulnerable children and young people in 2021, one of the most difficult years in modern times worldwide.
There has been an increase in the number of children and young people we assisted. Also a rise in the number we unfortunately had to turn away.
Over the past year, we have turned away a staggering 365 children and young people due to no availability in our programs. That is one turnaway a day.
Concerningly, we have seen a 58 per cent increase in children and young people presenting with mental health issues, a 159 per cent increase since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have also seen a 69 per cent rise in children and young people who have been victims of domestic violence.
